I find working with Crossroads to be very fulfilling. It allows me to support individuals and families while also giving their carers some time to themselves. It’s a great feeling to know that I’m making a positive difference in someone’s life.”
I would highly recommend support work to anyone who wants to work in Crossroads. It’s a rewarding job that allows you to make a positive difference in someone’s life. Not only does it benefit the service users and carers, but it also provides personal and professional growth opportunities for the support worker.
Crossroads is a very supportive company. From the training provided, to the support available at all times, I know that I’m not alone at work. If I need any help from Crossroads, I can call at any time, which is very reassuring.”
Crossroads are very supportive who are there to help guide us and get us to be the best we can which in turn gives us confidence in ourselves. They visit the family and get to know them they reassure the family that the service user is in good hands.
Before joining Crossroads, I worked as a professional abseiler and conducted ultrasonic scanning on pipework. This work took me from the North Sea to Canada, where I worked on land and offshore installations for several years. Later, I transitioned to factory work and then moved into office work as a document controller.
I have been sewing for several years and find it to be a therapeutic hobby. I enjoy both hand sewing and machine sewing, and I find that it allows me to express my creativity while also providing a relaxing outlet for my free time.
I find that I work best when I have support and can ask any questions that come up. Crossroads is always there for me, providing support I need to be the best I can be.

I enjoy meeting new people, finding out what they would like to do during my visit, especially for instance taking them to a new activity that they have an interest in and seeing how much they have enjoyed it and when they say thank you for having a lovely day.
I support a gentleman who loves football and during my visit we chat about his favourite team, I find out the recent scores and upcoming games. He also enjoys reminiscing about his own football team he played in and his coaching days.
I have felt supported as from my first day I attended a very thorough training programme and what reassured me was they pointed out that if we needed to speak to our own allocated coordinator we could phone them anytime and if not available then there is always someone at the office to talk too. I have regular supervisions where we chat about how I am first of all and updates on individuals I support.
I worked in Lynnebank Hospital then supported individuals in the community afterwards, worked for Alzhiemers Scotland for 18 years, they were phasing out home support. I joined Crossroads to continue the role I am happy doing. I have completed SVQ Level 3, various Modules online and a wide variety of topics which are assisting me with supporting individuals with complex needs.
I like to be prepared and organised for the following day so if I need games, quizzes etc., or have ideas or suggestions for outings as not all individuals can or are able to make a decision themselves so I like to have everything with me but I can use my own initiative and skills if situations arise.
My biggest ambition is to support individuals to the best of my ability and to be happy and content in my job role. My family are very important to me also and I wish to continue to give them my love and support always.

I enjoy connecting with my service users and trying my best to understand their situation, ultimately trying to make a positive difference to their day.
One time I aided a man with dementia on a walk around the shops, he pointed at the pound shop, so I helped him into the shop. He walked to the sweetie shelf and helped himself to a bar of chocolate, ate it on the spot, dropped the wrapper and walked straight out the shop leaving me a bit shocked!
I would one hundred percent recommend Crossroads as an employer or a support group.
Crossroads has our best interests at heart, and I’ve always felt supported and respected. Great team!
I believe that Crossroads as a company supports people well as we are all passionate about what we do, and the management team have also come from caring and support roles.
I have worked in industry all my life as an engineer, ran my own company doing property maintenance, kitchens, bathrooms etc. I have always strived to learn new things and educate myself further.
I still love to engineer and build in my spare time. Also, a keen outdoors man, camping, fishing, and foraging. I love to cook and make wine and jam from foraged fruit.

I enjoy the fact that I am able to help support the service user and their families and hopefully help to make a difference.
I would absolutely recommend anyone to work for Crossroads Fife the staff go above and beyond to help everyone, the training is amazing, and I have enjoyed it all.
I do feel supported by Crossroads, from training courses, supervision, shadowing, the staff are always there if you need advice or anything I need help with.
Crossroads support is brilliant, the families and carers, always tell me that the coordinator phones them to make sure that they are happy with the service provided.
The last job I had was hairdressing and most of my clients were elderly. I really feel that this has helped me in my job role as support worker.
My hobbies are walking, reading, and gardening. One of my lovely service users wants to teach me golf.

I enjoy helping people and seeing the difference a few hours of support can make for the carer/family. I am well matched with my families, I know who I’m going to be supporting. This enables you to build relationships and with that comes trust which is essential for the carers peace of mind.
I have been with a Family for quite some time, the gentleman is confined to a chair with limited movement. Recently his Carer found a company that could assess him and see if there is anything they could do to improve his mobility. It turned out he was able to push pedals with his feet independently. He now has an adapted machine at home and uses it daily. The family are over the moon and hopeful of improved mobility in the future. It's amazing to be part of the families journey.
I feel totally supported by Crossroads Fife personally and professionally. There is a great support system in place, there is always someone available to talk to if you are experiencing difficulties or any issues arise and you need to talk. You are always welcome to pop into the office for a chat.
I worked in the Manufacturing/Engineering sector for over 30 years and was made redundant. My sister recommended Crossroads fife to me but didn’t know if it would be a fit for me! I didn’t take into consideration the support I was already doing within my own family. It turns out it fits. I have completed My SVQ in health and social care, I have completed many training courses including First aid and Moving and handling.
I love going to the gym. It keeps me fit, focused and is also great for my mental health. I’m currently planning to get back into yoga. I enjoy walking. I recently conquered Ben Nevis with my sisters which was a great personal achievement. I also like making/creating jewelry with Silver and semi precious stones, crafting in general.
