Here's what our staff say about working for Crossroads Fife Central:
  • I love my job, and feel I am providing a worthwhile service to individuals in the community who really need it.
  • I feel I have an excellent home/work life balance, and always looks forward to coming to my work.
  • I feel supported both professionally and personally at work. I feel I can contact my coordinator and ask her anything; she & all the office staff are very approachable and friendly. I know it sounds silly, but I feel ‘looked after’. I have no worries, or problems or issues. I love my job and I am very happy to be working for Crossroads Fife Central.
  •  I feel coming to work for Crossroads is one of the best choices I ever made.
  • I would like to be working with Crossroads until I retire as I really enjoy my job and feel I am  delivering a very worthwhile service.
  • I have a good home/work life balance. Crossroads Fife Central respects my responsibilities as a parent, and has taken the time to formulate a rota that suits. I have attended a variety of training including bereavement training, ADHD training and Epilepsy training; these training opportunities have resulted in me understanding these conditions better - and in turn, the  service users I support too.
  • I feel appreciated as staff member and not ‘just a number’ which is refreshing.

We appreciate that Christmas can be a difficult time for many, including Carers and the individuals that they support. Crossroads wants to take this opportunity to wish you peace, strength and hope over the holiday season.
We would also like to thank everyone for their generous donations over the year which enable us to deliver extra support to people in need, and for the gifts and boxes of chocolates given to the staff team over the past few weeks.
Here is a picture of some of the staff in their Christmas jumpers for you to enjoy, though given all the chocolates we have eaten, they may not fit us next year!
Thank you again for your support and Merry Christmas to all!

Staff Training Day

23/12/2016

Crossroads continues to prioritise staff training to ensure that we are able to meet the needs of the people we support. Recently the staff team enjoyed a full day's training from the Speech and Language Therapy depatment of NHS Fife and the Deaf Communication Service, Fife Council.

During the morning session staff learned about difficulties that individuals can experience with speech, language and conditions that affect swallowing. Below are some pictures taken on the day, including staff learning about how to support someone to drink who has swallowing difficulties and staff tasting drinks made with thickening products.

During the afternoon session, staff learned about various forms and  levels of hearing impairment and the impact that this can have for people affected. As shown in these photos, staff worked together in groups looking at various forms of communictaion, not involving speech.

Staff enjoyed this training finding the mix of theory and practice very interesting and informative. Many staff spoke of how they could implement this in their day to day practice.
