Opportunity for Carers to have their say on Fife Health & Social Care Partnership Short Breaks statement -

17/9/2018

Sent on behalf of Scott Fissenden, Fife Health and Social Care Partnership.

The Carers (Scotland) Act 2016 requires that the Health & Social Care Partnership prepares a statement about short breaks for carers by the end of December 2018 and that this should be developed with the involvement of carers and persons who represent them.  As an organisation that supports carers we (Fife Health and Social Care Partnership) would like to hear what you think are the priorities for their Short Breaks Service Statement for Carers.

The purpose of the Short Break Services Statement is to provide information to carers and cared-for people so that they can make informed choices about the types of support they might wish to consider.  We already know from the consultation early in 2018 that carers consider short breaks from their unpaid carer role as second only in importance to general information and advice to help carers.  Before finalising the statement the partnership is keen to ensure carers have the opportunity to share their thoughts about short breaks, what matters most and where you think we should focus our limited resources.

The consultation has several facets including direct consultation with carers and focus groups with carers.  In partnership with Fife Voluntary Action we are hosting a brainstorming workshop consultation session for those organisations who champion carers to share what they understand carers’ priorities for short breaks are.  You are invited to take part in this vital part of developing our service statement and your views, on behalf of carers, will help us to shape a positive, meaningful and successful service for the future.
